About Sanskrit Pathshala Mahavidyalaya (S.P.Degree College)
Sanskrit Pathashala was established on August 9, 1905 by few renowned residents of Sadar Lucknow Cantonment to impart Indian education to illiterate residents of the area. A prominent Socialite Late.Lala Chhedi Lalji Agarwal donated his house no. 1059, Kallumal Road,Lucknow, in the year 1917 for the development of the college.
His main aim was to propagate the knowledge of Hindu culture
and mother languages such as Sanskrit and Hindi to the residents of
cantonment. With the progress in the educational field, gradually the
school started imparting proper education at the primary level, since
the year 1951. With due efforts of the management committee, it got
recognition for High school in 1957 and with the continuous efforts of
Late Vishnu Saran Ji Agarwal, the contemporary Manager, the Defence
Ministry of Indian Government alotted 1 lakh square feet land at Mangal
Pandey Road to the school.
